In the New Year we will be covering all aspects of the Dresden Plate block, from the traditional to something more modern. Made by machine and quilted as we go along this will end up as a completed quilt or even a selection of cushions if you prefer.
Penny is teaching a variety of classes at Nicola’s Fabrics in Lymington. These classes are aimed at confident beginners and intermediate students. Christmas items will be the focus for November, with lots of festive patchwork. Try your hand at a strip pieced and appliqued table runner, some decorations for the tree, bunting for the windows, greetings cards or a wall hanging.
All classes take place on a Tuesday afternoon in the shop at the top of Lymington high street.   Contact Nicola for more details on 01590 670095.
Having recently invested in a free standing quilting frame with free motion quilting machine Penny has been heavily involved in quilting patchwork tops for the charity, Quilts for Care Leavers.  This is a group that makes quilts for young people coming out of the care system. These kids are invited to a Christmas Dinner where they are given a choice of quilts to pick one for themselves to keep.  These are designed to be “a hug” as they are the right size to wrap around a person as a quickly hug.  People from all over the UK have given their time, expertise and materials to the project along with donations from companies. The total of quilts for 2019 will be approaching 1000 by Christmas.  To find out more about the charity please go to: https://www.facebook.com/groups/QuiltsforCareLeaversMakers/r Facebook page.
